At the micro end of the Gesamtkunstwerk ( total art work ) spectrum are our interior commissions, brand environment projects and fit outs, like that for Coca-Cola atrium which was a redevelopment of a derelict space in the centre of the Coca-Cola International Headquarters in Ikoyi, Lagos. The point of departure for this project was an understanding of architectural psychology and the need for cues that communicated refuge in a space that was visible from all the offices along the building’s four-storey perimeter. The solution was elegantly simple – an indoor garden in an atrium with umbrellas and designated areas for relaxation, solitude, and social interaction. Every detail was designed as an integral concept; the interior architecture, lighting design, furniture design and fabrication – even the images of Lagos were taken by me and aged to a “vintage feel”. It was an instant hit with the Coca-Cola team and its popularity led to a feature in the media.
