The interior of “The Wave” is consciously contemporary and completely belies its staid exterior. The soaring ceilings and open plan view of the building, as well as the curvilinear forms of the upper floor and first floor plane are all concealed behind the exterior which is an Afro-Brazilian and Colonial hybrid. The horizontal plane of the ground floor and the rear view facing the expansive lagoon waterfront verifies the “Wave” as a study in complexity and contradiction, presenting a very different aspect from that which the street façade suggests.
